    Question about German Re-enactors uniforms

    Hi Guys

I don't know if I'm at the right adress, but I'm looking to buy some German repro uniforms for my museum (I collect mainly Field Gear)

Now I know of some sites (Atthefront, LostBattalions) and was wondering: what are the nicest repro's out there.

I'm looking for early war M36 uniforms with stone grey trousers.

Any suggestions and / or pictures to share ??

    Thanks in Advance

        Thanks Guys

I've studied the uniforms on lost battalions, and they look very good indeed.

The only problem with them is they will not send the package as gift with a value of 40 $, so it's gonna cost me a fortune on tax

Is there someone in the States who would be willing to order one for me and then ship it to me? Ofcourse I will cover all the costs. I can pay with paypal...

          Tom,

You may want to read this thread regarding Sturm tunics. They are 1/3 the price of a Lost Batt tunic, and in my opinion just as nice.

            Tunics,

            Greetings Tom,

Your site is kick ass!! Well displayed and layed out. The reason the Sturm tunics are 1/3 of the price as Lost Battalions is that they have 1/3 of the authenticity. Sturm tunics are made in china and you can get the same from Ebay. Lost Battalion tunics are made in Texas by Mexicans to your specific measurements! I have a couple here at home and Sturm tunics are not even close. They display well, and they will make it to the size you want!

There is a difference between the Chinese made Sturm uniforms and the the Chinese ones say from Keith's. If you put them side by side you will see the difference. I will admit that the new Chinese Sturm tunics are lighter than the older Sturm tunics. I have one of each they look identicle other than the weight of the wool fabric is what I think is the difference you hold one in one hand and the other in the other hand you can feel the difference in the weight.
But if you want a uniform that is as close as you can get then the LB one is the one to get. It is more money but worth it it will fit you correctly provided you have given them the correct measurements, and they will alter their own uniforms properly

The reason they won't declare as a gift and under $40.00 for you is because it is illegal for them to do that. To evade customs duties and taxes is an illegal act and they will not put themselves in that position it could lead to some serious charges. Also it could cause problems with the Internal Revenue in the US since their records won't match sales receipts and monies received so now you know the reason why. I know we all try to save a buck here and there but you do have to respect their integrity and honesty. Lets say the item was lost in the mail???? and they declared it under $40.00 would you accept a $40.00 refund when you had spent $200.00???? I doubt it very much you would be screamming your head off

Thanks for the answers guys. Well the uniforms don't have to fit me, but my mannequins that are going to stand in the museum, So I probably will have some mannequins 1st and measure them, and then send the details... If I read correctly, lost battalions is the best if you want historically accurate uniforms.
I wish I could afford originals ofcourse, but they are way too expensive to fill a museum with. My plan is to have 1 original M36 Uniform on a mannequin that represents the German Soldier at the time of the invasion in Holland and the diorama's will have repro uniforms but original Field Gear

I can understand their position ofcourse, no problem, I would even be willing to pay tax for the items, ,but I find it ridiculous that we have to pay tax over the shipping cost as well !!

btw, I think we pay enough tax here in Holland considering 1 (one) liter of petrol costs 1,50 euro and a liter of diesel costs 1,15 euro here

I always liked the stuff I bought from At the Front, as well as the Janke items I purchased from Bill Bureau.
