Sems like years ago my son posed beside the tanks you showed - he is 24 now and was 7 then . Time and tide wait for no man .
Glad you enjoyed your visit .
PS Did you find the memory card I left at the American cemetery which had all my photos of the Orne bridge and Museum
I did not see any memory cards at the American Cemetary
        (have I missed something?)

        Regards Richard.

No Richard , when I was there in June I changed the card in my camera and must have left it behind me - good photos of your time in Normandy , thanks for posting them up.

Yes this looks very great. It is unfortunate this is only a museum though? From what I have heard the bunkers still around that were not preserved by a museum have been tagged etc.

I find that extremely disrespectful and distasteful. I tell you I wouldn't be friends with any of those punk kids.

Hi all, I also went to Normandy last summer. Here are a few of my pictures. I spent a week there, saw a lot of things and took almost 900 pictures, so if there's anything you'd like a picture of I might have it! So tell me so

Thank you for the comments on my thread.

Where exactly in East Anglia did your father serve?

As a native of East Anglia, I have always had an interest in the RAF bases used by the USAAF during WWII.

I recently sold my house in Norwich which was on the site of the former RAF Horsham St Faiths, home of the 319 BG (B-25), 56 FG (P-47) & 458 BG (B-24). Little now remains of the original infrastructure although there are some original buildings such as the guardroom still intact.

Just outside Norwich is the village of Rackheath, home of the 'Rackheath Aggies', the 467 BG (B-24), where a little less remains than Horsham St Faiths although, there is still some derelict buidings still in evidence.

Should your father of served in either of these 2 bases I would be more than happy to take some photographs for you when visiting family and relations, to pass on to your father.

                        The offer is open.

                        Regards Richard.
