    Glencree.

Pathway in from entrance , the cemetery (located in the Wicklow Mountains South of Duiblin) was formerly a small quarry.

        Glencree.

        Another view of the cemetery.
My abiding memory of the visit was the groundsman who almost attacked me for taking photographs.

              Glencree

During his time in Irland He fashioned this stone which is retained in Glencree , a reflection on himself and his mission.

                Glencree.

An tablet which tells something of the place.
In the main those buried here are men from the Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine who crashed on or off the coast and who were in turn cast ashore on Ireland's beaches.

My recollections of it are that it must be one of the most intimate and peaceful places I have visited over the years - it reminds in style of La cambe.

Unfortunately I have not been back in the years in between - opportunity has just not presented , mt eldest lad lives North of Dublin and perhaps when visiting him it might be possible - we will see.

Is this cemetary near where the German POW's were kept? My uboot vet friend Edgar was kept in a POW camp in Ireland here is his discharge document when he was released from the POW camp. It was signed by a W Cahill C.S.M. Irish Guards 2 P.W. Discharge Center in June of 1947
