    Ernst-Wilhelm Reinert

    I have just found out that Luftwaffe Schwertertrager Ernst-Wilhelm Reinert passed away on 05 September last.

    Herr Reinert was one of the handful of Schwertertrager still living and I know from my own experience that he continued to be extremely helpful to historians and collectors, and I know that he shall be sorely missed.

    My sympathies to his family. I met him in 1997 at the Luftwaffe reunion in Pottsdam. It was his first reunion and he took a special interest in me and my friend. At the big Saturday night dinner we were walking into the room and he was sitting at the end of a table by himself. He saw us and motioned for us to come and sit with him... a great honor.
