The fences were common among farmers of the day - a split rail fence to separate fields, hold in cattle and animals, etc. Remember that most of these battles were fought on farmer's fields.

Actually some of those statues and monuments are very distracting. The one for Pennsylvania looks like a cathedral and out of place.

A good job of photographing, etc. but it would be nice to tag each photo as to what and where it is.

The construction of those fences is very interesting. What exactly were they for?

      Hi Ricardo,

Great photos; thanks for sharing. Gettysburg is a fascinating place to visit, and touches a lot of people in the States.

My great-great-grandfather was wounded somewhere out in the distance here, during the attack of Longstreet's Corps against the Federal left on the afternoon of July 2nd.

      Best,
      Greg

Very nice pictures! I would love to visit Gettysburg one day. Two of my great, great great uncles fought there, serving in the 11th GA Infantry Regiment, one of which was KIA.

Picture #10 shows a good shot of a Confederate manufactured Napoleon cannon.

        Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the thread and pics! I am going to PA in about a week for a re enactment. I posted a add in CL looking for an informal tour guied to take me to Gettysburg on Sunday as I don't fly back till monday and I got two replies. Posted in the Platonic section some dude wrote me saying he will take me only he mentioned being bi and wanting to violate my virtue! I politly decline and the sicko presisted so I had to tell him he was repusive, out of line and I'd not be going to Gettysburg with him nor meeting him. Christ!

Some 39 year old gal who is quite a looker has offerd to take me! Easy decision LOL

I hope she is not expecting anything as I have a girlfriend. But never know she might pull out of the gig last minute.
