German painting

From a german bunker a preserved painting dated 1943...
(I tried to remove the entire wall but I couldn't )

Were is this bunker ? it must not have been discovered yet, cause I think they would have removed it.

You know what? Two of those words are spelled wrong.It should be Kaempfen with a "p" and Zukunft with an "n". With millions of copies of "Mein Kampf" floating around Germany, you'd think that was one word everyone could spell. Do you think this bunker art could be post war? Cheers, CB.

I really don't think so. There are plenty of these original painting in the atlantikWall, and i don't imagine french people painting after the war something about german victory.
The whole walls of the sleeping room are paint with some flowers....

Where

This bunker stays in brest (West of France, Brittany) and you can be sure it is original to the bunker, not a repro . Most of the bunker have some inscriptions (check the posts in Living...thread) about victory or gun ranges. I'll post some pics later.
About these writing, in the german submarine base in Brest (300*250m) which is now an entire part of the french marine harbour and used by the marine, it is still wrote in german on the walls:
Rauchen verboten or in one place "fransöze verboten"
In 60 years the french marine didn't found some time to paint them!

about the wrong words it could be a kama...that had been change in kamp.. as there is variuos dedications to kamaraden in bunkers...

I think the sort of people who write grafitti on walls aren't necessarily the best spellers! That goes waaaay back to what they've found at Pompeii!

I don't like how the German government is tearing down all of these pieces of history. What... do they think that they can erase a horrible part of the past just by tearing down a few olde bunkers?

I know quite well the frescos on the Atlantikwall, especially in the north of France. Mispellt words are not unusual

- You can still visit some existing bunkers here in Germany, especially in Berlin.

- Many of them were heavily damaged during the war and later by Alliied engineers, but not completely destroyed. So they were magnets to youngsters as an playground. Destroying them completely was one way to save lifes.

- Many bunkers in the cities were destroyed cause the place was needed for new buildings.

Hey, we are surrounded by our history, no way to hide. With or without old bunkers.

You can not make a museum out of every old military related building.

We have circa a dozen of Imperial German barracks here in Berlin, most of them now used by the Bundeswehr or police. I was stationed some years in Berlin-Moabit in the old Garde-Dragoner barrack, some years in Berlin-Schulzendorf, an old Luftwaffe barrack were one of my history teacher was a Flakhelfer.
In Berlin-Spandau I had many lessons in close quarter combat at the same range where my grandpa had his first lessons as armoured engineer.

Here I were stationed during the second year of the police academy. Then Pionierkaserne, now Polizeischule Joachim Lipschitz.
And I grow up circa two kilometers away from the French Quartier Napoleon, the former barrack of the Luftwaffen-Infanterie-Regiment "General Göring", now Julius-Leber-Kaserne where the Wachbataillon and the Feldjäger-Kommando Berlin are stationed.

That's some kind of living history I think. Again, many many buildings still exist but not as museums. Others do, and others were destroyed to make place for the future.
