sounds like it should be a war grave from what I can make out.

Great story to be followed and an interesting situation as it being and accessable war grave.
Leave it to be pillaged by those less caring when discovered by others, or at least move the submarine to a museum and return the dead to Germany for burial, saving the submarine from looters and souvenir hunters who could pilage both the dead and the u-boat .
Interesting, some opinions here on your thoughts on this one. I am at conflict with this one since in these situations I normally would say leave the boat and the dead where they are, but having it at a depth that can easily be reached, how long before others find out where it is and loot it of artifacts and the bones .

i think it should be raised! if it saves the remains of the crew and the boat then it should be raised!

I agree with Paddywack , if only to preserve the remains of the crew .
thing is what do you do with the boat when you raise it ?
U-534 sits in Liverpool - her future far from certain and there are rumours of one of the Deadlight boats which may be raised and taken to Derry.
Raising the boats may be the easy part - ensuring their long term future is a huge undertaking.

U534 cost about 2million pounds to bring up several years ago i think the chance of another boat being raised is no chance as it will cost probably double that sum today i think there will allways be storys of boats about to be raised but who will invest that sort of cash today

I would hope a Howard Hews or an Aristotle’s Onasis that would be interested in creating a museum of these U boats and would guarantee their survival.

If a museum like this did exist believe me, a lot of people would visit. I for once would have it if I was a milliner. Not only of these boats, but of tanks and all the stuff I could get my hands on

i would imagine that it will be raised in the future..........12 years looking for a boat and then.......ok i found it........time to look for for another boat.....hardley............being an amateur scuba diver...........i doubt that it could be looted by the average relic hunter......its got to be pretty deep.........i am fortunate to have lived by chicago so i have visited the U505....
