WWII sights to see in Greece

Taking a trip to Greece in December. Going to hit Athens, Crete and Rhodes probably. Anyone been there or heard of some good places or things to see WWII -wise?

I lived on Rodos for a year. Be sure to go to the southern village of Plimiri and check out the ruins of the Italian barracks there. They had a battle with German forces after the flip-flop in 1943. I found lots of interesting remains, including K98 casings, clips and 20 MM cannon slugs. Lots of trenches there and barbed wire. It's been a long time since I was there, so hopefully the remains are still around. You might also want to check out the old airfield, about halfway down the island, where JG 27 was based. There used to be the remains of some old Italian aircraft lying around there.

My uboot friend Edgar's brother was killed and buried in Greece. I'll ask him if he knows where he is buried. He has a picture of his brother Eric's grave but he has never been to it
