            James,
Thanks for posting up the new pictures. It's not a tank that one finds too many examples of on display.

Wow an un-welded tank. There is a nice Sherman in the next town but like all tanks on display all the hatches have been welded shut. I guess it's to prevent people from getting inside and getting hurt and of course stop the Idiots(vandals) from damageing things. Why people can't keep their fingers out of thing I'll never know. The Sherman is at a Royal Canadian Legion Branch in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. These tanks were given to different legions etc. They have also had the engines removed. They were free with the understanding that an engine would not be put back in if it was the tank would be taken back and destroyed

Hi guys thought i would bring this one back to the top, I walked past the churchill tonight whilst out with the dog its pretty dark over here but as i passed i thought someone must have painted it black as i couldnt see it, Got up close and guess what? its gone! after speaking to the guy who owns the house across the road it was stolen some time before the new year the police think most likely for scrap!
I will get some more pictures of where it was as to be honest i just cannot believe someone could steal something of this size!
                  EDIT
After bit of tinternet scouting it seems to have been gone since november "christ i must be going blind"
Doesnt look like its been pilfered for scrap luckily but sadly a private collector has purchased it so probably it wont see the light of day again ah well

It was sold to a private collector. Forget his name off the top of my head.

wow I lived in sheffield for two years and never saw this tank!

And yes, I share your feelings...Meadowhall, it's not exactly something to shout about is it...I mean it's just a shopping centre, not even that big. There's hardly any of Sheffield's history left you're right...it's a shame....it annoys the crap outta me actually.....my city's the same....hardly any shipyards left in Glasgow, not even a ship museam or anything, just tons and tons of new flats and glitzy office blocks on the Clyde now :-(
