Fascinating story! Thanks for sharing. How did you research the particulars of the ambush? Are there any official documents?

            Great find! Eric

              JL,
Thank you for sharing that with us. I find your research very
interesting and I think the work that you do to bring closure
to the families of these sometimes forgotten soldiers is admirable.

                  Merci Jean-Loup

Merci Jean-Loup for continuing in your Quest of unanswered questions of WW2.

Since you are from the Cote d'Azure Region & a native French speaker, it is still fantastic that the 'locals' will tell you stories (and guide you to sites) - that other researchers would be unable to find!

Buck Shot - forensic testing for Blood.

I have forgotten how to do the test, but there is a chemical test which will identify blood on objects. (Also, I believe that UV light will highlight blood, but a not certain). The forensic test would then be - Human vs. Animal source, but perhaps there is a way to discern the difference?) (Check with the Pathology Dept. in Med. School.)

Enjoy your latest Adventures & Discoveries!!!

Keep them coming!!!!! txs, Dave / dblmed

                    Great story.
The scenic shot looks like the Gorge Du Verdun where I used to kick around as a Kid.....

Jean Loop another very human story which is made all the more by the evidence of what took place being set before us.
I remember some years ago being told of a German soldier executed in France - some local people asked that he not be shot - he was shot and buried in an unmarked grave.

Today you have to wonder if the people who killed them are still alive and how they feel about what took place or how they reflected on their actions in the twilight years of their lives.

Thank you for sharing this sad tale of lost soldiers - I certainly look forward to your work coming into print.

                        Such a waste .....

                            What a story Jean.

I really am amazed. Sad to the bone as all casulties story...good to know they got a wargrave though.
I really enjoy your work. You are a real cool guy who use energy to show us the story behind the objects, that makes it so very, very interesting.
You have a true passion for history and sharing it with all of us makes this
                            forum worth visiting so often.

Again thanks and keep up the good work!
