We also visited the War memorial in Hyde Park ,which is in downtown Sydney.
I was very impressed in the manner that Australia honours it's war heroes. Craig told me that by law, each town must have a memorial to the dead, and is guaranteed a piece of captured enemy equipment to display

            Scott,
Some very good pictures of what appears to be a superb museum. My favorite was of the Me-163. Examples of thoes are few and far between. Thanks for sharing your visit.

No wonder there is only one plane form WWI. The war memorial owned once the largest collection of WWI-planes - till they decided to get rid of them in the 1930s, and burnt (!) them all but that one...

                    Austrailian War Memorial

Fantastic pictures, thanks for posting. I was most interested to see the Lancaster. My Mother's cousin was a Flight Engineer on this aircraft for time. He completed 30 (Doubt that they were all on "G for George" )ops but on the day he finished, a fellow engineer was sick. Austin took his place. This was his last op as the Lanc was shot down over Holland with the loss of all the crew.

                    WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

sorry to read of your loss.
the Lancaster, Flak gun and Messerscmidtt were all part of an integrated simulation and had voices of Aircraft control as well as other pilots and ground crew, along with a movie of a raid over germany, in an attempt to demonstrate what these brave men endured.

I was there a few months ago myself. The ME109G is the last in the world with original wartime paint.

Hi Scott great pics, yes the Australian war memorial is one of the best in the world.

Most local towns or suburbs have War Memorials and RSL clubs honouring all those who served in all theatres of war.

Attached is a link to an old thread of some pics of the local memorials near where I live, some of these memorials are quite detailed.
