    US pilot research?

    Hi guys,

I am trying to find out more information about a US pilot. The name is John Mclendon /flew P-38 fighter?/, shot down 20.12.43 POW in Bulgaria, ?military number? 0800015, probably was born ~ 1920.

Is there a way to find more information about him? Most of all, in which unit he flew, and if possible - I would like to contact the nowadays association or club of the unit. Can you suggest, where to look for the information? Thanks!

            Thanks Dion!

John Mclendonis the only known real witness to the crash of a Bulgarian pilot who hit his Me-109 into a B-24 from a formation heading to bomb the capital.

I will try to find out if the man is still alive. Or, at least to find the original of his memories about what he saw - because various sources quote him, but the translations vary far too much, so trying to get his original words
