    Hello,
it says they were 15 german soldiers that have been summary executed by american troops on August 26th, 1944. Remains will be buried in a military cemetary and items (helmets, ID tag...) will be on display in the town military museum

Yes, thats Jean-Loups dig that is posted here if you want to see alot of pictures,
and yes Jean-Loup has made sure this dig went with dignity and respect , these men were repatriated to Germany for burial. You can see the way the crew works on the film and in the stills that it was akin to an archaeological dig not a bunch of souvenir hunters.

Yes, that is a video of my exhumation of last october. Here is the thread with all the details, pictures and veteran interviews that I made: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=194678

Thanks again for all the kind words guys. The funeral will be this june, so I will be adding quite some pictures to that thread soon.

"it says they were 15 german soldiers that have been summary executed by american troops on August 26th, 1944. "

Rest assured, these germans were not executed by "the americans" of the First Special Service Force. They were killed in combat, as is prooved by period documents, witnesses, and the evidence found in the grave. But the press felt the need to spice things up, as usual .

An execution is so much more exciting and scandalous then normal combat... I have befriended many of the FSSF vets who participated in killing those germans. They fought honnorably and with courage, and I didnt appreciate this "mistake" in vocabulary by the press at all. To all the journalists I spoke to that day, I insisted on two things: 1- the soldiers died in combat. and 2 - The FSSF was made of Americans... AND canadians.
But this particular press crew didnt speak to me, and only spoke to "real official" people...

Below: probably what the press would call "helmet of german soldier executed by shell fragments to the back of the head"
