i set up a table with some of my collection, and hada great time meeting WW2 vets,as well as people who were simply interested in militaria. i met a marine who invaded Guam,Bouganville ,Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Needless to day i was floored. he was very shy,and humble, and didnt want his picture taken. he said he was simply very lucky, and was amazed when i told him i was very honoured to meet him. he didnt seem to understand the fuss.
i really enjoyed being able to display some of my collection,as this is often a very solitary hobby. it was cool that alot of younger kids were inetrested, amybe i passed the passion along to them!
