As far as I know, there will always be some there, as long as we still have active squadrons. No better source for spare parts. I haven't heard any more about them getting scrapped, a bunch of them did get cut into 5 pieces years ago as part of a treaty on arms limitations.

Others, like the F-4s, will be turned into drones, and unceremoniously shot down for missile tests and pilot training.

I always found pictures of this place to be fascinating.
I saw a TV show about some of the B-52's being destroyed, and some "artist" was keeping parts of them and using them in expositions. I dont know if it defines as art in my book, but it was still pretty cool.

Kinda gives me a heavy heart seeing all those beautiful planes sitting there, never to fly again, rotting in the sun!

WOW - I've heard of that place, it's amazing to think of the shear number of planes out there.

I've also heard there is one of commercial liners in Arizona or Nevada ?

What type of planes are those in photo #4 - still B52's or another heavy bomber?
If only I could be half the man my dog thinks I am

They are B-52s. Here in New Mexico down in Alamogordo there is a huge boneyard of Commercial Jets of all types sitting in the sun. They have been picked some of usable parts.
