    Hi Klaus,

There are a number of photos on this site http://www.thirdreichruins.com/lostsites.htm from a USAAF officer stationed at Schleissheim airfield near Munich, beginning in Dec 45, if that helps.

    Best,

      Hello Greg,

thanks very much for your help.
Im searching for the units which were around Amberg, which is between Regensburg and Nürnberg.
But the page you mentioned is a start and I will contact him now and see if he knows more.

      Thanks very much!

        Hello Klaus,

I have some American photo albums/photos and information on units stationed in the Amberg/Grafenwoehr areas but unfortunately all of it is in my Household goods that are on the way to the Netherlands. Once I get settled into a house and get my computer set-up (also in my household goods) I will be able to post or send you some information.

            Klaus,

The 359th Infantry Regiment of the 90th Infantry Division was in Amberg through at least August 45. I would check this division and regiment as a start.

Also, if you haven't seen Klaus-J******246;rg Ruhl's excellent work, "Die Besatzer und die Deutschen - Amerikanische Zone 1945-1948" published by Droste Verlag, it has unbelievable detail, testimonials and photos of many regions. There are accounts of Regensburg. Gives a true feel of the human suffering during the reconstruction and the relationship between GIs and the German people that resulted in our friendship today.

            Hope this helps, Steve
