    Trip to Stuttgart

I'll be visiting the city of Stuttgart for a quick trip at the start of the new year and was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions for places to visit (either tourist or militaria related). If there are any shops near the city center I'd love to hear about them.

    Thanks in advance!

      Scott,
Stuttgart is nice but besides the military markets either in the spring or are they in the fall, nothing really screams, a must visit. Besides the Mercedes Benz world HQ, I really can't think of too much. For a better time, hope on the ICE and go south east to Munchen Hauptbannhoff and spend the day in Munchen. There a ton more war TR related sites to see.

      Just my Zwei Pfennings,
      Sepp

Hi Scott, there are two excellent museums. One houses some of Rommels items. Search "Stuttgart" on the forum for details and some pics

          Cheers, Ade.

            thanks for the suggestions.

I've been to Munich more than 4 times and this will just be a quick trip so I'll just be looking for local places.

I'm bumping this in the hopes someone may have missed it. I'll be traveling to Stuttgart at the start of the new year and was hoping a world-traveling or German member may have a little local information about militaria locations in the city.

Also, I attempted to search for more on Rommel in Stuttgart without much luck.

Can anyone help me with either of these?

              Much thanks in advance
              Scott

Hi Scott, I just looked up the old thread about Rommel's items, here is my old reply:

Hi, Rommel's baton along with his medal bar and Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds are on display at the Baden-Wurtemberg State Museum in Stuttgart. I visited Stuttgart last year and at the time I do not know they were there but I hope to go back next year and make up for it.

Here is a link for you as well:

                Cheers, Ade.

This is the Castle which houses the city museum. Von Stauffenberg was born there No Rommel stuff here though.

This museum has an excellent range of Bronze Age and Roman artifacts. Well worth a visit.

                  Cheers, Ade.

                      Scott:

This is a great museum. It's located one hour northwest of Stuttgart. Good military display (linked to below) but also good for gearheads in general. I've been many times.

                      Hope this helps,

                      Drew
