The Zeppelin parade field is that the same as the Luitpold arena does anyone have a pic of this of what it looked like and what's left of it now ?

Recently visited Templehof airport and it really is a magnificent building, I have a couple of pics of the eagle statue at the front entrance. I will track them down and post one.

Hello all,
Thanks for posting the neat pictures Richard.
It seems that type of eagle remains a lot where just the swastika has
gone. Is that a very old 'German eagle' as apposed to a Nazi design?
It certainly went west when they blew it off the Nuremberg stadium, but
remains in many places. Did the various military / para - military eagles
( with out- stretched wings ) start life from that design?

Germany used a eagle as a coat of arms hundreds of years before the nazi area, and are still using it.

"The origins of the Reich eagle (adler) on German soil probably date back to the time of Charlemagne. Around the year 1200 the black eagle on a gold field was generally recognised as the imperial coat of arms."

Talking about Albert Speer: i read his book "Inside the 3rd Reich" and he mentions that his brother was a soldier in Stalingrad with the 6th army and was missing. But he never refers to his brother again in the book (well thats how i remember it).

I wonder if his brother survived the war or if he was one of the many lost in Stalingrad?

To answer Federico Peres question, Thorak's work shop designed by Speer is still standing and still very much in use.
It is extremely difficult to get access authorisation .
