WWI German Reenactors in the Midwest?

    Hey all,
I am already a American Civil War reenactor (2nd Wisconsin Infantry, Company F, "The Belle City Rifles" ), but I would love to be a WWI German reenactor. Does anyone know of any WWI German reenacting groups in the American Midwest, preferably in Wisconsin or Illinois? Thanks in advance for the info.

I live north of KC and I also have been interested doing WWI, even if just for public displays.

Actually it doesn't much matter where your unit is located, as just about everyone on this side of the nation heads to Pennsylvania for the two annual GWA events. But as a Civil War reenactor, I'm sure you know already its more important to be with folks you like as opposed to folks you don't really like but are handy.
You might want to go to the WWI aviation event in Dayton Ohio...some summery or late spring time...you would be sure to meet a smattering of people and might get a good idea of who and what you'd like to join.
You might also want to ask around at some of your cw events...a good crop of our Germans at WWI are from you area and I know several that reenact CW as well...I just don't know them well.
Sometimes thay can be easy to spot. I elected to not go to this falls WWI event, opting instead for a much closer CW event at Fort Branch. We feldgrau types - others who decided not to go to the event - and happened to be at Fort Branch - just attracted together and at one point around the campfire we found ourselves singing some good old German marching songs...four of us, not counting one who wasn't around the fire, at an event of some 200 people. So you may have a similar situation where you are. Good luck..

          Greetings All,

IR92 2Ko. is actually out of Milwaukee. We have a trench system in Townsend ,WI. that we work on each event. Most of the active members come from the Western part of the state. We do two WWI reenactments at Townsend each year. One in the spring the other in the fall. I posted a thread looking for individuals that would like to do some WWI reenacting on one of these forums. I believe that it was the WWI equipment forum. We will be having a Grenade assembly party at my home Jan 6 2007. If you have an interest please send me a PM.
