My DKW NZ 350-1 project from 1944...

    Dear all,

Some of you might know that I 'took a dive into the deep' by buying and trying to restore a DKW NZ 350-1 motorcycle. The bike dates from 1944 and was still running until August this year!

I bought it in Hamburg from a 76-year old man who had 'assembled' it in 1957 from 'old parts'. As usual, there were some parts missing and I am in process of acquiring it all so that later this year it is fully functional (I hope.....).

Yesterday, I collected all parts that had been to the painter...and they look like new! I am very happy with the result!

The re-building will start next week and I thought it a nice initiative to keep you posted of the developments...Hereby the 1st series with pictures of the bike 'in parts' (only those that have been painted!) There is a lot more!!.

    To be continued....

    Best regards,

    Coco

She looks brand new! Excellent restoration.

(I have been meaning to ask you, have you 3 colour camo painted your Schimmer? I saw one on the back of a trailer this year in Arnhem. Not sure if it was yours or not? If so, sorry I did not have chance to stop as I was driving one way and you the other)

                    Cheers, Ade.

                      The DKW project...

                      Dear Ade,

Thanks for the nice comments! I would like that the Schwimmer was mine!!! but regrattably it is not!...It is one of the nicest cars (and restaurations!) I know of and it is Willem's (AKA Tarnmilitaria).

I know he has chosen the camo for his car by taking an example of one of his helmets and I deem it turned out great! He might have some pictures to post here (I will ask him...).

A pity that we could not meet in Oosterbeek this year: I was not there this year...who knows maybe we see eachother next year!

                      Best regards,

                      Coco
