Good to research the place, salvage the parts, burry the pilot... Even the hat and the gloves would be still Ok IMO. But displaying the tunic and pants of the dead man, that's a bit too much! Where's the underwear, only it's missing from that display

I presume that the pilot's remains must have been located inside the wreckage.
I assume they were removed by the relevant authorities for proper burial, but it's strange that there is no mention of this.
I thought that any personal possessions discovered on digs like this had to be offered to the pilot's country of origin, for return to any surviving next of kin.

I remember a piece on TV news in the late 70's early 80's about an open air flea market in Stalingrad. The angle was that the Soviets were allowing a bit of free enterprise. What was for sale? The camera panned over the tables, loaded with German military equipment ( gas masks, canteens, etc.) medals, badges, ID discs. The reporter informed one vendor that German veterans groups were upset about the desecrated war graves. The vendor shrugged and said "if they hadn't come here, there wouldn't be a problem". I find it hard to disagree with him.

I agree, You can find uncivilised people all over the world.

On the other hand, as my grandpa told me, he just survived his years as POW in Russia because the Russian guards shared their small rations with the POWs in his camp.

The Russian government didn't take care as we have not treaty with them. Our authority, the Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, has still a lot of trouble with them.

Instead of carefully digging out the plane and other remains they simply pull and shuffle it out as if it was i pile of crap
