Red Army soldier buried in Holland.

Hi Guys, I thought I would post this pic I took last week (during my annual trip to Arnhem for the commemorations of the battle) taken in the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetry.

I guess he was a former POW who joined up with the Allied Forces? There are other Soviet soldiers buried in Nijmegen.

    Cheers, Ade.

General shot of the cemetry. As you can see the weather was was kind to us for the whole week of our trip. The grass is being replaced hence the brown patch.

Interesting, Ade. I know that you know that there are several Red Army soldiers buried in the British cemetary in Bayeux as well.

The name on the stone appears to be eastern SU in nature, too.

                    Very curious!

Obviously it has to involve some sort of POW as no Red Army soldiers served in the West as advisors or observers AFAIK.

                    Maybe just a dead POW?

Of course from a Soviet point of view, all POW's were non-Soviet anyway...
