    SS photos in local newspaper

On the www.delawareonline.com website (from the Newsjournal paper) there are photographs taken in WWII by SS Sturmbannfuhrer Rolf Schiller. He gave them to a local man who just published a book on Schiller's memoirs. Just go to delawareonline then click onto local and you will see the article under multimedia. Just thought it was interesting.

Is that submachine gun the MP28?

I think the submachine gun you're referring to is a Russian PPS. Germans loved them because they were much simpler than MP40's and MG44's and had a huge clip.

The submachine gun in the clip is indeed the MP-28. It was highly popular with the Waffen-SS and other organizations within the Wehrmacht and her government.

MP 28 = "highly popular with SS & Polizei". Where do you get that from ?. The only reason the SS and Polizei got pretty much all the obsolete machineguns like that was due to their less than desirable status from the Heer point of view. Had nothing to do with being "popular".
What's all the hubub about the treatment of the pictures from the vet ?. Is there a tone of maybe it makes the SS look bad or something ?. SUrely any glorification is not wanted ..right ?.

I agree with my knowledge what Bob already said. It looks like the photos are mixed up. Doesn't mean they are not from O.Schiller but they show a lot of different units in the far eastern regions of WWII. SD, Polizei and Einsatzgruppen.
