I'm sure I've seen a few of these at reenaction events just never noticed. Hope someone replies, I'm interested also. I'll ride one down from Ontario if necessary to save myself the $1000 bucks or so to ship it.

I have one and after doing some basic mods it works well. I didn't want a real one to use reenacting because I really abuse stuff in the field and it has taken it! I have crashed into a tree at 15kph, been hit by a Stug III, went from 20 kph to 0 in 1 foot(that was fun!), driven it down a 45% slope and not lost control, all in all it has been a blast!

You may want to get a hold of www.blitzbikes.com . They specialize in this sort of thing.

            Hi Matt,

Yes it looks quite good out in the field. I will see what pics I can find.

            Cheers

Have you 'germanised' it at all? I mean using original German and new repro german parts, I've seen alot of very nice looking repro items to make it look aesthetically very much like and R71. How as import and shipping?
Would love to see some pics

              Hi Gary,
In China,an used CJ750m1m just cost 800-1000USD, but I don't know how much should you pay for shipping, if you want to purchase one.

In my memory, near my block, there is(was?) an old, damaged and abandoned CJ750m1m. If you want to take some available parts, I will go to check it.

The converted ones from Blitz Bikes are superb! Well worth the $5-6k. I have seen them at many events. Unconverted they just don't look right.

Try to get a Russian M-72. They are not copies but licensed R71, once made with German tools and machinery from BMW (first ones with the help of an BMW engineer during the time of the Hitler-Stalin-Pact). The Chineese had copied the M-72 with slightly differences and in poor quality.

Spare parts for the M-72 are cheap and easy to find in Europe.

The Russian M-72 don't offer a retro model converted to look like an original BMW. The Chinese do. Converting the bike is a big part of the cost.

Ural has made many changes during the last years and offers different models but no more the M72.

But You have good chances to buy an old M72 as the so called Molotovs have still a big fan club in Germany or Poland f.e.

Some links of mostly European dealers: http://www.flegelei.de/links.html
