Ft Hunt, Maryland

Interesting article, thanks for posting. As a point of clarification, Ft. Hunt is an old coastal defense facility in Virginia, across from Maryland, built along the Potomac in the 1890's to protect D.C. from waterborne invasions. The Maryland side was protected by Ft. Washington of the War of 1812 debacle. It was turned into a CCC facility in the '30's, and returned to military service during WWII.
An interesting footnote, many of the German submariners who were interrogated at Ft. Hunt and subsequently moved onward to POW camps reported having electrodes placed upon their testicles and receiving shocks. An inquest was seated at Papago Park POW camp (AZ ?) and medical evidence proved the allegations true. No one was ever charged, though. After the war, it became known that as many ten prisoners who were interned at Ft. Hunt went missing and remained unaccounted for. Another inquest was opened and it was determined that two or more prisoners died during the shock treatment, and they, like the others, were buried somewhere on the grounds. Pretty well documented at NARA.
I live about four miles away from Ft. Hunt and many of my neighbors when I was young were employed or stationed at Ft. Hunt. Still live nearby.
I hope this adds something to the article.
Mike
