    I just flew formation with a B-17!!!!!!

    Another dream fulfilled!

I just flew formation with the B-17 "Yankee Lady" for 30 minutes. Taped the whole flight. Did an approach as a flight of two all the way to the runway.

Might get to do it again!

    Jim

That's fantastic! I've always wanted to go up in a B17 or a Lanc! Anymore pics, tremendous weather - how were you allowed to fly so low in NY? The first pic could almost be out of WW2 with the Empire State & the Chrysler.

Hi Jim, these pics are indeed great! Were you in a helicopter, as I know this is your usual aircraft?

          Cheers, Ade.

Fantastic!!! I am happy that you have had the opportunity to realize your dream. May sound silly to some, gut every time I hear B-17 engines cough to life, it send chills down my spine, and puts a lump in my throat...

              Greetings All,

I was in an S76 helicopter. We arranged to link up with the B17 earlier in the day. Our ship has a camera mounted on the side so we filmed the whole event.

I'll be downloading the video tomorrow from the aircraft's memory. I can't wait to see how it came out.

The "Yankee Lady" is here at Teterboro airport for the weekend. I'll get more stills tomorrow.

              Best regards,

              Jim

                  Jim,
Your on the outside looking in! You need to fly in one of these to truly have an appreciation what our vets endured. I flew in one (the Colling's foundation "Nine of Nine's) last year. I recommend it to anyone intrested in the air war of WWII.

I flew in a B-17G a few years ago and at that time the aircraft was a member of the Confederate Airforce. I believe it was called the "Texas Raiders" and it was out of Houston, Texas. The 45 minute flight was an amazing experience, one I would like to repeat.

Jim, your still pictures are fantastic, thanks you for sharing.
