My trip to the bridge that was too far..

Hi all

as you proably know by now, I do once a year a battlesite tour with friends of mine. This time I went to Arnhem to visit the bridge thatw as too far as well as the surounding museums.

We start with some shots of the Arnhemer War museum who is, so I belive a private collection with some nice displays as well as nice tiny shop for real souveniers.

After that we went to visit the Airborne museum Hartenstein which was the Headquarter of General Urquhart

the bridge that was too far

At last we went to see the John Frost bridge as this bridge is named today. In September 1944 it was the bridge that was too far

Overloon

After Arnhem we went back to see the museum in Overloon where a big tank battle took place in Septmeber 1944. The museum is built on the former battlefield and is very well done.

Sherman

This Sherman tank was shot down by a german PAK gun crew. The first shot wen straight through the lower hull. A second shot brought the ammo inside the Sherman to get off and the whole crew was killed. Even the turret went off.
