Dunkerque - Is There Anything To See?

I'll be passing by Dunkerque on vacation this summer on my way to Normandy. Can anyone tell me if there is anything good to see there related to WWII?

    Thanks

I have not been there for years but as far as I know, there is nothing there. Of course the town was badly damaged and it now looks like any such town in France I guess. There used to be some bunkers on the beach toward Malo les Bains but that was many years ago.
If you are heading South, I believe there is a good museum near Boulogne. The Somme area is not that far and if you head for Paris, you will be crossing it.

        Give this a try

        Hello,

When there is nothing obvious to look at you should try to go for the unobvious.

What I would do is get some books with good clear pictures of Dunkerque during the end of May 1940. Try and do an after the battle type of thing by taking before and after pictures. You will never see the soldiers standing there today but I think that even if there is nothing to see, just standing where they stood pretty interesting.

If you make it down to Dieppe there is a lot to see. Not only in Dieppe but in the towns of Pourville and Puys which are just north and south of it. Lots of broken bunkers and firing positions. You can see LCol Merrit's Bridge where he won the VC.
