    Historians Travel Guide

    Hello fellas,
I wanted to know if anybody knows of or has thought of a travelers guide for the historian that all of us in this forum are? I am planning a trip to Germany and western europe in the hopefully near future, and even though I am aware of most of the well known museums and such what I am trully interested in are the things that the past 60+ years have over looked. What I am getting at is, a guide to battlefields, monuments to the german soilder, forgotton bunkers, buildings, etc... the things the travellers guides and most cities tend not to mention to people. It would be great to know where in the country you could pull to the side of the road walk a little while and look at a piece of history. If anybody has any thought about this subject I would sure like to hear.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Check out the "Third Reich in Ruins" site for some examples of the forgotten bunkers, WWII buildings, soldier monuments, etc.

I have looked at that site and it is where I started to wondar about this. To see the pictures is great but, would be nice if there was a guide to tell you where to go (a map) of sites like this that would interest people like us that take an interest in the history. If I travel to say Munich, where would I look to find these types of places, or if I was to drive in the country side, where is there a side trip that would take me to a site off the beaten path?

      Oh well, just thinking

      Thanks
