            Very sad news indeed Ade.

I think I remember bumping into you and Mike at Beltring when wandering off somewhere.

May his name liveth for evermore.

            Thanks, from Jack.
P.S. Is that another 39-45 star he is wearing on the left side of his jacket?

Hi Guys, thank you all very much for the kind words and sympathies expressed, and to those who have also sent PM's The last couple of days have been a really tough time. I will pass all these messages of support onto Mike's children and Grand children.

Hi Jack, the medal you enquired about is the Greek War Medal 1941 - 1945. Mike got this for the actions in Greece in Oct 1944.

              Cheers, Ade.

May I ask how old he was?

That he may rest in peace.

Thanks once again for all your kind comments.

I think Mike was 83 or maybe even 84? His birthday often used to fall during the XXI (Pathfinders) reunion weekend in May. I recall his Grandkids got him a birthday card one year which came with a badge like you would buy a young kid. Mike wore this badge which said "I am 80"

                    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Guys, yesterday Lez and I attended Mike's funeral. The weather was fine, but very cold.

Mike had a tremendous send off. The chapel was was packed and there was standing room only. There were five standard bearers in attendance from different branches of the Airborne Forces association. Red berets abounded. A large photo of Mike wearing his medals was placed at the foot of the coffin. The service was a true celebration of Mike's life. The airborne Prayer was read out, which I would like to add here:

May the defence of the Most High be above and beneath, around and within us, in our going out and in our coming in, in our rising up and in our going down all our days and all our nights, until the dawn when the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in his wings for the people of the world. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

I passed on everyones thoughts and condolences to Mike's Sons and Daughter.

                                Cheers, Ade.
