    German reunions

Here in the States the Veterans often have reunions, this made me wonder if the German Veterans also organize reunions.
    Does anyone know?

Tino, there are all kinds of veteran reunions that have been held in Germany. Many of the reunions wind up issuing a publication and/or a tinnie or other paraphenalia to commemorate the event.

The larger reunions are done, simply due to age. I've attended a number of Waffen-SS ones (Das Reich, Der Fuhrer, etc). In the 80's its hard to explain the fun of being at a table with 8-10 Waffen-SS Knight's Cross holders. Photos of some of the bigger names at those meetings can be found in my Bender Publishing series "German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS and Police."

Thanks for the replies, it makes sence and I don't see why they wouldn't organize reunions but wasn't sure if they still wanted to be associated with WWII.
Sounds like the Waffen-SS reunions were interesting, I have to check out the literature you mentioned.
        Thanks,
        Tino

Are there any German veterans gatherings here in the USA? I imagine it might be harder to coordinate something such as that.

                  Reunions

Reunions have nothing to do with wars - it is all about fellowship and shared experiences, good and bad !

In Aliceville,Alabama the town has hosted the Afrika Korps survivors organization. This small Alabama community was the site of a large P.O.W. camp of mostly German soldiers captured in N. Africa.
                    It was alot of fun.
The ex-prisoners were humanely treated and there is much regard among captors & former prisoners. Those German vets really loved having a Southern barbecue!
