Trip to Amsterdam (North sea canal)

    Hey all.......

I have just come back from a trip from Amsterdam on the DFDS Seaways ship. When the ship docked I think it docked in the North Sea canal. On the way out we past a very small island in the mouth of the canal and it look like ww2 fortification on the island could anyone tell me if that is right and if anyone has any pics or history that would be great.

    Thanks

    Sean

    Well thats right

I had been there myself on the isle.
In the harbor there are alot of bunker complex my bro made pictures but i dont know where they are.
There are 2 very alrge storage bunkers.
I tought they said the bunker was build in ww1 for defend of holland.
The german used it in the ww2 they put big guns in it
On the isle their are some tobruks with a gun in it.
Their is 1 big eating room there with some orginel painting form german soldiers on the wall.

Thats all i can remember so far.

I hope it helped ( and if its the isle you mean)

    Ps: You arrived in Ijmuiden?

              Amsterdam

              Hello,

The only time I have ever been to Amsterdam is on Queesn Day. Unfortunatly there wasn't much time to visit miltary oriented sites.
