      Good News

The recovery of aircrew and soldiers of any nationality is always good news , that word "missing" is one I dislike.

Hi Will, no idea on their ages but they would have been in the 18 to mid 30's age bracket I would have thought.

I actually saw the burial service on the BBC News. Several relatives attended. One chap said he had almost forgot his Brother as he was a youngster during the war. So this brought back his memories of him, but in a nice way.

Several current Luftwaffe Officers attended too, along with a couple of WW2 Luftwaffe aircrew. The RAF provided the Guard of Honour.

          Cheers, Ade.

            Missed it.

I am sorry I missed it on the news , Martin Middlebrooks book "The Berlin Raids" gives details and a transcript recording the recovery of a lancaster found near Berlin in the 1980's.

My father's brother was lost on a Halifax his body was the only trace of the crew found- just off the West Coast of Texel and not far off is a 158 Sq. Halifax.

Our own goverment seems to have a policy of leaving crews where they fell - something I have very mixed feelings about.
