I made the three mile trek yesterday (Sunday), and was fairly dissapointed with the lack of good German militaria, although it was intresting to look at some other periods of history militaria. I wanted a simple non foldable entrenching tool with cover to finish of my manequin as I didn't buy one of the many I saw at W&P, and could I find one? No.

The different periods of re-enactment were great to see, (dare I say a refreshing change from the hordes of W-SS ... no better not), particularly the Middlesex redcoats.

It definately was a military show, covering all periods of history.

I think the Detling show is great for the re-enactment groups.
Where else could you see warriors from the dark ages, right up to the Gulf war, all in the same field?!!

But, as already stated, dealers were a bit thin on the ground.
The indoor dealer area had huge gaps in it, other years it has been packed with sellers and buyers.........Not very many outside either..........

      Steve.

Some more photos for those that were not there.......

Hi Guys, sorry I never got chance to talk to you. I was really busy for all three days. We had 29 men on the field which is a great turnout for us. We had a really great time. For us it is a better show than Beltring. We defeated the "Fascist hoards" on Sunday and Monday

Kit wise, I bought some British 1944 pattern webbing and some Soviet awards. My Arnhem Vet friend Don and his wife attended yesterday and they were treated like Royalty

            Cheers, Ade.

Detling and Beltring are two different shows Detlign is for reenactors where Beltring is for shopping and vehicles.

To be fair I thought that there were more bargains to be had at Detling that there was at Beltring...plus I saw alot more high quality retailers at Detling where as Beltring brings in every man and his dog.
