Groundfind: can these be aircraft parts?

    Hi guys,

I went searching a Me-109 crashsite... however I don't think I managed to find it.
It is a wild area, hills, some forests. Managed to find only the things on the pictures below. Indeed, found in the middle of nowhere, but after all they may be not from aircraft, but trash left by tourists, forest guards, forest gump...

First, these things I found together, close to each other. On a steep hillside, they were not underground - but the hillside is rocky, there is no way to be underground, they were caught between the rocks. Any idea, what are these? An ychance to be from aircraft?

This looks like a kind of rubber, seems one of those tin things has been attached to it at some time. Any idea what these things are?

I have no idea what the shiny pieces of metal are, but it seems to me that if they had been exposed to the elements for 60 or more years they would not be in this condition.

I think its possible that those items could be from the aircrafts engine compartment. Rubber doesnt deteriate very easily and its amasing how well preserved items from some crash sites are.

I will go consult with a buddy of mine.

              Tom.

If those things are aluminium then they don't look to have been open to the elements for too long. Aluminium items will show at least some signs of corrosion, at the very least it goes dull after 60+ years. Rubber too left in the open will have deteriated to a degree, it dries out and cracks.

Heres a peice of well coroded aluminium from a HE111 that I picked up in Fair Isle a couple of weeks ago, lots of it scattered all over the place including a large tail section and both engines, see here http://www.fairisle.org.uk/History/fair_isle_incident.htm

I am not sure what it is... aluminum o something else. Doing some room reworking now, so will be able to check tomorrow.

Indeed, aluminum sometimes looks very bad after 60 years exposed to the elements. But not always - at the B-24 crashsite that I visited, found a piece of aluminum tin, on the ground, just partly covored with grass, which was like new. Also some more tin, from right under the surface, shines like new after only water wash.
tomorrow will try to find out what the matherial is. But you are right, looks too new.
