From there - on to the crashsite. Driving through meadows is a really nice experience - especially knowing that the village is very close and they have plenty of tractors there to pull the car if gets jammed somewhere

This time, I think I managed to locate the crashsite.

Remember the story: the bomber flew low, started to cut the treetops with the propellers, suddenly two engines broke in the trees and fell, and the aircraft crahed on the hillside nearby. There is started to burn, so hot that the aluminum was melting and falling in drops, also ammo exploding according to the witness.

Remember what I found earlier: parts from cast aluminum details, a kind of temperature or pressure gauge, a few pieces of aluminum tin, two pieces of plexiglass... All this on quite a small meadow. I searched there again: again a few pieces of cast parts, tin pieces and... two pieces of engine piston rings - no way to be mistaken for them!

Now I knew - this was the spot, where the engines fell apart, fell to the ground!

So, I headed further to the West, about 40 - 50 meters away of the "first finds meadow". And there, the whole hillside gave signals on the detecor!!! Many small pieces of aluminum tin, also numerous bigger and smaller pieces of melted aluminum - this was the place where the aircraft crashed and burned!

So: First place - very small area, no melted aluminum, debris that may be from the engines; Second place - big area, lots of small pieces, lots of melted aluminum. The location and the type of the debris exactly confirmed uncle Asen's story!!!

Here, infront of me and up the hill to the left is the location of the main crash. In the left-upper corner of the picture is the area, where I first found parts, where the the engines fell.

Looking down the hill. Ahead, to the sides and to the back there are lots of signals, small pieces hidden under the grass. Nothing is seen on the ground, all bigger parts have been taken away for scrap metal shortly after the crash.

A picture to the top of the hill. The trees in the center are much younger than the crash. They are only a row of trees, beyond them there is some more of the same meadow, giving lots of signals /again tin pieces and melted aluminum/.

However, I did not spend too much time on the main spot.
First, I did search on the place where the engines fell. Spent some time there. When found the piston ring fragments, I understood that this is only the engines' location, not the main crashsite. So, started searching around. Then located the main crashsite with the melted alumiun drops. Meanwhile it was already 1 PM. Hot, sunny day... I mean HOT!! As seen on the pictures, no shadow. Me, with long jeans and high shoes /to avoid parasites, snakes or any other thing of the kind/... Water was pouring from me like rain... At some time started to feel strong pulse in the head... Not to mention that had not taken a hat However, the breaking of the shovel was the last thing, the thing that made me leave the place But I'll be back!!! With a better shovel, a hat and this time, knowing the location, will start earlier

The finds: the spot, where IMO two of the engines fell, gave these finds: some tin /engine cowligns?/, two pieces of piston rings /different profiles, so from different rings/, some flat cast pieces

The location, which is IMO the main crash site, gave such things /only some, as said I could not search very long, there are many more "signals" still on the site /. Tin, pieces of some mechanisms, lots of melted aluminum found allover the place.

Among the other stuff - these iron debris. Could these be ammo belts?

                          Thank you Øyvind!!!

...and on the back side of the same tin - traces of olive and silver paints.

                          Ok... I'll be back... again!

ooops... I just noticed the title of the thread... It is wrong, from the new information I think, that it is a B-24!
