Next I would like to show some pictures from area that saw bitter fighting during "Lappland war" in autumn and winter of 44/45 between old allies, Finland and Germany. There were a lots of old positions left... I hope these are not too boring?!

There were lots of this kind of improvised positions. Pretty nasty when under fire because of stone splinters...

There are still some German casualty un-accounted for in this area. They were buried in a hurry and sometimes graves markers were lost. Actually they did find several bodies in 1970's still in German uniforms during road construction work.

All right, more pictures from the same '44-'45 "Lappland war" battle ground. As you can see there wasn't that much cover sometimes and lots of soldiers paid the ultimate price in this area.

German dug out. There were some German empty 7.92mm ammo casings around.

Another one... It was a quite a major battle so this area is full of these positions. Luckily everything has been left as it was back then.

On this place there was around ten of these stone pile positions on a row. I will post later some pics of those items that I found.

We were at famous battle grounds of Finnish-Soviet '39-'40 "Winter War" this June, maybe I should post those pics on other thread if there is some interest? I don't think many of non-Finnish members have realised how much there is to see here...
