Wonderful personal history! I am sure you are very proud of your father-in-law. Thanks for sharing.

My father was an American pilot in WW1. His flight training took place in Foggia Italy, they were called the "Foggiani". I have his Italian flight log book, rank Primo Tenente. He performed an aerial manuever which allowed him to wear the Italian pilot wings on both sleeves, as well as the US pilot wings on his chest. He then served in France, had over 80 flights. I have many photos and documents. Always fun to share these!

immediately after the war, the bodies were moved to the nearest civil cemetery in Alfonisne, then transferred from their respective families of origin cemeteries...


unfortunately it is not possible cleaning or restoration the church (or affixing a plaque in memory of the soldiers ox the Lupo Btl) because of the absolute opposition, even recently, of local National Association of Italian Partisans).....

and yesterday May 8, our President Sergio Mattarella during his visit in Argentina, he left a Commemorative plaque in the Italian School Giulio Cesare, the same
where Ennio taught; nd where he was Headmaster when he died of a heart attack in 1972....

a dear friend of Fiinale Emilia, he sent me a small article about a local newspaper in memory of Ennio as one of the founders and supporter (also for his political commitment) in the foundation of the State High School of Finale Emilia (Modena)... here he is with his colleagues in the 50s

and the biggest regret for me, that I collect documents, is not to have (apart his photo of Turin in 1944 back here) a picture of Ennio of 1943/45 years .... they told me his sister and her brother who was exactly like in this university photo of 1947, very thin compared to his standard .... and always in his memory ...
