Hello !

I just stumbled across this topic. A very interesting and special set of documents,
with two soldiers KIA at the same time and same place.
Good research and nice presentation as well !

I hope the following can add some useful information :

- Regarding the circumstances, when both soldiers fell :
On 17.12.41, an attack to take Sewastopol started. For II. Btl., Inf.Rgt. 123, the first task was
to take Höhe 80 (height 80), the III./123 should take the "Eidotter-Höhe" and the I./123 the "Kasernen Höhe".

II. and III. achieved their tasks, but the I. was held up a few 100m below the height, due to severe pressure
of the enemy, and strong artillery fire. Already on the first day, each of the 3 regiments of 50. ID had losses
of ~100 men (killed and wounded) and Gefr. Hahn was one of them.

On the 18.11.41, the 50. ID did not continue the attack but had to fight back several strong counterattacks.
During one of these, OG Dittberner must have been deadly wounded.
(Interestingly, the letter of his Kp. Führer describes the situation quite correct.)

The first map shows the general situation in late 1941 (from Tieke; Kampf um die Krim), the second one
the specific area where both soldiers fell (from Meinhold: Die 50. Infanterie Division).
Both books are very interesting to read and can be recommended.
