I think many years later no one had anything good to say about any of the leaders and easy to show faults. I doubt it was all the Lufts fault especially after USA entered. THere would be no battle of Britain if not for the USA. The USA might, just overwhelmed the Luft and they had superior planes and bombers and seemingly endless supply. The Brits cracked the codes and developed radar which didn't help. And then instead of invading England they went to Russia. Was all that Goerings fault?

Quite right, the wehrmacht had no realistic chance of a successful invasion of Britain with the paltry surface fleet they had, they might well have managed to put troops on the ground but they couldn't have kept them supplied or reinforced effectively.

Just look at the drubbing the KM got in Norway losing several capital ships, including one to fleet air arm dive bombers and almost half their entire destroyer fleet. The LW weren't too successful against shipping in the Norwegian campaign either lacking the specialist skills and having at that time no torpedo bombers, therefore it's difficult to see how a handful of captial ships and no more than a dozen destroyers would have been able to protect the troop transports and barges against the might of the Royal Navy and remember the RN also had submarines, which had had several successes already off Norway.

There's also factors like the lack of long range fuel tanks, no strategic bombers, slow and vulnerable transports which had a small load carrying capability, a dive bomber which couldn't survive in the presence of enemy fighters
