May I present you here a small military estate, which is in my collection.

FUCHS moved in 1940 to the Mountain troops. In 1941 he took part in the campaign against the Soviet Union and was awarded with the Iron Cross 2nd class and got promoted to “Gefreiter”.
In 1942 he got promoted to Unteroffizier and earned the Infantry Assault Badge in silver. For bravery he was awarded in May 1943 with the Iron Cross First Class and after being wounded 6 times with the Wound Badge in Gold.
Moreover he was promoted to Feldwebel and awarded in June 1944 with the DKiG.
"Feldwebel Johann FUCHS was awarded with the German Cross in Gold for bravery on a large combat patrol on the Eastern Front " ...... such a newspaper clipping!
The awards were sent home after his death - the unworn cased DKiG FUCHS had even taken home at the time - said his brother, who served also at the front, but unfortunately already passed away.
