    kSmall P38 grouping

Here is a neat P38. The vet who brought the gun back was on the cover of Newsweek in 1945. He was in the 60h Infantry (I assume 9th Div.). The grouping came with the P38, the capture paper, and the cover of Newsweek. I bought another vintage copy of the newsweek issue and confirmed the name of the soldier on the cover (listed in the issue) was indeed the same as the name on the capture paper.

Very cool! All the info needed for verification! Did you purchase it directly from him? What's the code?

I got the gun from the guy who got it from him. So unfortunatley I never knew the veteran (now deceased) and so I never got any stories from him or his widow. The article didn't elaborate where he served at either (although his unit saw a lot of action for sure). I did a search on his name but didn't find much. The gun itself is an inline (numbers in a single straight line) AC 43.

The guy I got it from did say the vet told him he was carrying that P38 in all that gear when the photo was taken.

This is so cool, mostly because you can track it down to the soldier on the front cover. Really impressive! Thanks and congratulations!

Looks like they used the same picture of Ralph Terry -- the guy who owned my P38 on this publication too

Here you have a great demonstration on how to display a great story with just a few items.
Thank you for sharing this. To bad you never find out the background info.
