I was very fortunate to recently acquire this grouping from a leader in the hobby.
The vet is Charles Foster and he was KIA 20 APR 44 aboard the Liberty Ship
Paul Hamilton. The ship was sunk 30 miles off the coast of Algiers, Algeria by
23 german bombers near sunset, there wer over 500 men on that ship, all
perished,,only one set of remains was ever recovered. It was one of the
most costly Liberty Ship disaster in terms of human life.
I can only imagine what they guy felt like who dropped the torpedo that blew this ship into oblivion,,,perhaps he never knew he just killed 500 men?
The grouping consists of Purple Heart Cert. and Accolade, Hap Arnold cert,,
telegram from his mom to the family,,numerous photos, and 2 PH's
one officially hand engraved and one privately emgraved
