Perhaps he was put in for it and the paperwork never came thru.

Hi Jeff, here's the broach in question. I am afraid my camera i( or me) is not the best at taking close ups. The engraving is on the reverse far wing in the picture and only seen through an eye glass but it is certainly F Pohl .

Sascha on first post the 4th ribbon bar. On the last position is the ribbon for the TKM.

But it seems this bar doesn't belong to Pohl. It diferently to his medal bar.
Or we have the same situation like his EK1.

          Regards Alex

I'd say it is far more likely he got the TWM and it just wasn't enetered in his book. They were handed out to whole units.

I agree, since it is proven that his records do not reflect an EKI that he is seen wearing, there may be other entries that are not in his Wehrpass. There is no record of him being a pilot prior to WWI, yet there he is on a flight from Trier to Metz in 1910.

Of course it always possible something extra from another family member could have become part of the collection, but this is exactly how it has been since WWII. There are also items that could be in this grouping from his career as well that were not with his family. I think it's a miracle this much survived intact.

He did write about his WWI experiences. I found a reference titled, 1930 Pohl, Friedrich, Das wahre Gesicht. 53 Monde 1914-1918.

It is located on this Website: http://www.altearmee.de/index2.htm

Very sad that complete groupings like these get splitted By pure greed
