My meeting with 10 Panzer Division Veteran (Russian Front & DAK vet)

Friend of family asked this to be deleted. Although I disagreed with the reasons why I do not wish to offend anyone so I complied.

Great to see that he survived the war and is in good health today.

I had the opportunity to meet and play skat with a German vet of the Russian front. Sadly Mr Mengot passed away about 6 years ago. His 2 boys were both U.S. Army officers.

              Hi Andy

Thanks for the very interesting facts and Hermann was lucky to have been wounded before and sent later to Afrika. There are lots of useful details in your narrative. Even though he was a Pz Gren he had little transport while in the delaying actions in Tunisia. Also that a Pz Gren was awarded the Bronze PAB is common etc.
Do you know which Pz Gren Regt he was assigned to ? 69th or 86th perhaps ?
Would like to add from two other members of the 7th Pz regt. that the troops under Von Arnim did not consider themselves part of the DAK and were proud of the fact. I wonder if Hermann feels the same way today ?

              Thanks for sharing
              Tim
