Hello Guys, thought I would post some odds and ends I just got passed down to me,

My great uncle Ivan, aka Ivor has a rather fascinating story, I will post what odds and ends I have so far, and you guys can follow my research. I will post this information and other people might have had family or friends that served with him, in or spend time with him in a pow camp

info as follows, don't have a lot yet, as I am waiting on information from the NZ army records office etc

The info I have as follows, with newspaper clippings etc photos etc

He served in the NZ 6th Field Company of Engineers

he was in service for 6 years and 76 days

    5/10/39 to the 19/12/45

    Ivor's prison of war camp

Stalag XVIII B/Z Marburg Maribor Slowenien 8-11.1942

he was caught in via German paratroopers by the Corinth canal

Ivan made an escape, and walked thirty six kilometers over a hill, and he got caught and put via 41 days in a punishment compound

he was waiting for a flight home after 3 years on the 16 of may 1945

when the ally's came to the pow camp, he was in the camp hospital with scarlet fever
