Luftwaffe Pilots Badge.

Please don't crucify me for asking this question. I just picked up this LW Pilots badge. A bit rough., but the price was right. As you can see there is oxidation, moly on the back. Should I just leave it alone or is there something I can do to remove or at least prevent further damage. I heard there is a chemical treatment, but this sounds risky. The last is just a compauson with my lw badge. What are your thoughts on preserving this?
