Any way to safely preserve this SS buckle?

Hi friends! I'm not allowed to post pics yet, but the following link has pictures of the buckle I recently purchased. I was wondering if there is a safe way to stop the corrosion without removing the paint or ruining the authenticity??

Your welcome Dave,I have 2 Assmann's in the same sort of condition, the thought crossed my mind but they show character and behind glass now....just don't leave it outside in the rain!,that's when you'll have to worry

If you are in worry that it will deteriorate, a layer of Renwax certainly will help that the corrosion doesn´t progress and still the buckle will look the same
