So, here's the deal. I've been collecting medals for a while, but never any as old as the world war 2 era. So, i got my hand on a well kept iron cross.
Stupid as i was, i wanted it on display so i put it in a frame to keep it on display, with glass and all. just yesterday (after a moth) i noticed orange active rust. Some around the center, and quite some on the year marking at the buttom.
I see that some people gently remove it, while others say to let it stay in open air and as dry as possible, and others recommend Blue and Rust Remover or to just coat it with Renaissance Wax.
I was considering Renaissance Wax, but i want to know if i should do something with the rust first? Let it go inert or use Blue and Rust Remover?
If someone can give me a little walkthrough that would be great! What i should do if i use rust remover.
Thanks for any replies!
