Anyone ever use spray silicone to stop rust?

Best post the helmet so that we can see what kind of rust you are talking about.
Depending on the shell it could be inactive rust and that does need no treatment (usually on 'above' ground finds).

Doing a treatment when no treatment is required will devalue a helmet.

Hit the rust with a hammer untill it falls off . Or just leave it and sell it . Rob
